Spring is here?

I took these photos last Friday (allegedly the second day of spring) before we left for our water park weekend.  It was a good weekend to go pretend you were in the tropics.  There were 8 inches of snow on the ground by the time we left for Duluth.

Here's Alarik assessing the damage:

But he didn't stew over it too long.  It was way too much fun to have fresh snow to make into snowballs and throw at mommy!  :)

Edge Weekend

Thanks again to a Christmas gift from the Kogowskis, we got to spend a night at the Edge Waterpark this weekend.  Can you believe it?

Bekah and Scott had an awesome time Friday night once we got there.

They especially loved running under the big bucket when it started to dump.

Scott went with Jesse on the big waterslide but Bekah would have nothing to do with that.

I love this picture - looks like Scott has a fu manchu!

Alarik had a good time on Friday night.  He went down the little slides by himself over and over again.  Saturday was a different story though.  He wasn't into it and Jesse ended up taking him back to the hotel room.

We spent Saturday night at the Kogowski's house and headed back home after breakfast on Sunday.

Elementary Rejuve

From VLM's Facebook page:

Camp Hiawatha Rejuve

We had a great Rejuve at camp this past weekend. It was a time filled with games, singing, reading the book of Philippians, worship, and playing in (and on top of) the snow. This fun group of campers helped us get excited for summer camp!

After reading the whole book of Philippians, Bekah has been inspired to read her Bible more and since returning from camp she has plowed through the book of Genesis already!  Jesse and I are so thankful for the ministry that camp provides and that Bekah is learning and growing so much through her experiences there.

While I'm Gone

I'm gone for the week to a city clerks' conference in St. Cloud.  Talking to the kids on the phone each night is always interesting.  Bekah gives a fair amount of detail about her day. I got this picture texted to me of her winning the class spelling bee.

Scott is entirely different.  He gives me one word answers to my questions, if he answers them at all, and always asks me "what" after every question like he was paying attention to something else and didn't hear me.  After answering what he figures he's required to, he says, "Here's Dad."  :)

And it's nice to be able to text during my breaks and check in on Alarik.

My conference doesn't end until late tomorrow morning but the weather looks worse for morning than it does tonight so I just may head home after dinner and surprise everyone.  We are headed for a weekend at the Edgewater Park in Duluth as soon as I get home so it would be fun to get there faster!

More Nice Weather

How many pictures do we need of the kids playing outside?  Well, not this many I don't suppose, but when it's this nice after being so cold for so long, I just can't help myself!  Yesterday we had fun with a little melting river, big snowballs, little snowballs, the stomp rocket and just jumping for joy that it was so warm and beautiful out!

It's ABOVE Zero!!! And SUNNY!!!

You can't believe how good it felt to get outside in the sunshine and warmer temps yesterday.  It felt plop-down-in-a-snowbank good!

It was a great day to learn to snowshoe which is just what Bekah and Scott wanted to do.

Whoops, little mishap there.

Of course when Scott put them on he had to immediately do an off-road version of snowshoeing.  :)

He had a some issues as well.

But recovered quickly.

Dad arrived home so we dug his snowshoes out of the truck and then both kids went together.  They were outside for well over an hour and they were out again tonight.  They both want their own snowshoes now...success!

Yes, it was a much-needed respite from the arctic temps of this winter.  The sky was bright blue.  The sun was bright and warm-ish. Roofs were dripping. I even saw some mud.  Bekah found this great icicle-turned-weapon.

And Mr. Smiley-Pants was just happy to be out in the fresh air!
